Met up with Jess and Gene, who live in Haw River, for an engagement shoot at High Rock Farm. I really enjoyed working with these two – they laugh easily, are very sincere, genuine, and madly in love! Perfect! Jessica recently graduated from Chapel Hill with an English degree. Gene’s major was Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Biology at NC State. They both love to hunt. Prior to meeting Gene, Jessica never cared about hunting, but now she loves it and love the time to get away from the “busyness” of life. They also enjoy fishing together, which entails Gene fishing and Jessica reading a good book. They enjoy time with family and friends as well as cooking together.
Jessica says that in order to “understand Gene’s proposal, you have to understand a little about deer. During February and March, buck’s shed their antlers every year. When this happens, it’s kind of neat if you can find a shed antler laying around in a field or in the woods. For a few weeks Gene had been pestering me about going with him to look for shed antlers in a field near his house. Well we chose the Saturday to go shed antler hunting. That day, we go out looking and walking around and in a back field that we went to, I spotted the antler that we took our pictures with on Sunday. I was so excited because it was a really nice antler and I had never found one before. When I reached down to pick up the antler and take a look at what I had found, I turned around to show it to Gene and when I did he was down on one knee. I thought I had found an antler, but I walked away with so much more. It was so very us and so unique!”
These two just feel so blessed to have found one another and know God played a part in it. They are excited for their future, and so I am I! Gene and Jess: Loved working with you both and I hope you love the photos!
